We are hiring a Certified Wine Sommelier for a new high-end Japanese restaurant in Manhattan, scheduled to open in January 2026.
This pre-opening opportunity offers the chance to join a Michelin-starred team and help build an outstanding beverage program from the ground up.
Start Date:
January 2026 (training period before opening)
Compensation:
Up to $90,000/year (including tips, depending on experience)
Responsibilities:
- Curate and update the wine list
- Suggest wine pairings for seasonal tasting menus
- Manage inventory and ordering
- Explain wine selections to guests and support floor staff
- Collaborate with kitchen and service teams
Requirements:
- Certified Sommelier credential (e.g. CMS Certified Sommelier or WSET Level 3 and above)
- Previous experience in upscale or fine dining restaurants
- Deep interest in Japanese cuisine and food pairing
- Fluent English communication skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and hospitality
