A popular restaurant group operating multiple successful restaurants in Manhattan, New York, is seeking an Executive Sushi Chef.
This position will oversee the sushi operations of two restaurants with different concepts. Responsibilities include culinary quality control, menu development, ingredient management, and team training and development.
The restaurants value traditional sushi techniques while incorporating seasonal ingredients and the creative energy of New York. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced sushi chef who wants to develop new menus and explore modern expressions of sushi.
Working closely with the management team, the Executive Sushi Chef will also contribute to menu planning, special events, and broader restaurant operations.

Compensation
$100,000–$120,000 per year
Final compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee all sushi operations across two restaurant concepts
- Develop seasonal menus and special offerings
- Maintain high standards for food quality, flavor, presentation, and consistency
- Select and manage premium seafood and other ingredients
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop sushi chefs and kitchen staff
- Manage food costs, inventory, scheduling, and labor
- Maintain kitchen operations in compliance with New York City health and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with management on new menu concepts and special events
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a head chef or executive chef in a high-end sushi restaurant or fine-dining establishment
- Strong knowledge of traditional sushi and modern Japanese cuisine
- Experience managing a sushi kitchen and culinary team
- Advanced fish preparation, butchery, and knife skills
- Commitment to quality, creativity, and hospitality
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
