A Japanese restaurant in Manhattan is currently seeking a Sushi Chef.
This position is for a modern New York-style Japanese restaurant centered around sushi, while also incorporating drink pairings and hand rolls. It is an environment where you can use your traditional sushi skills while gaining broader experience in Manhattan’s active restaurant scene.
The restaurant is operated by a restaurant group with a history of Michelin recognition, making this position a good fit for someone who wants to use their sushi and Japanese cuisine experience to expand their career in New York.

Compensation
$30 per hour
Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skill level.
Main Responsibilities
- Preparation, cooking, and service of sushi and sashimi
- Fish preparation, sushi topping preparation, and sushi rice management
- Preparation of hand rolls, nigiri, and à la carte menu items
- Handling sushi operations during service
- Ingredient management, quality control, and sanitation management
- Working closely with the chef and kitchen team
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Sushi Chef
- Experience working in a washoku or Japanese restaurant is preferred
- Ability to handle careful preparation and maintain clean, organized work
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Must be able to work in Manhattan
