We are seeking a Sushi Chef for one of New York’s most highly watched, cutting-edge Japanese restaurants with Michelin recognition.

This restaurant is well known within New York’s Japanese dining scene and is recognized for its high standards across cuisine, space, service, and team culture. The hiring standards are high, but applications from Japan are also welcome.

This position is a strong fit for chefs who want to refine their sushi skills in a top-level U.S. restaurant, expand their career overseas, and challenge themselves at the forefront of New York’s Japanese dining scene.

Compensation

Annual salary: $60,000–$80,000
Final compensation will be based on experience and skill level.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation and service of sushi and sashimi
  • Fish preparation, neta preparation, and shari management
  • Sushi station operations during service
  • Ingredient management, quality control, and sanitation management
  • Collaboration with the chef and kitchen team
  • Maintaining the quality standards expected of a high-level Japanese restaurant

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a Sushi Chef
  • Experience in a Japanese or Japanese cuisine restaurant preferred
  • Ability to work cleanly and handle detailed preparation with care
  • Strong motivation to learn in a high-level environment
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to work in New York
  • Applications from Japan are also welcome
