A renowned kappo restaurant with a history of Michelin recognition is opening a new location in Manhattan and is currently seeking a Kappo Chef.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to seriously study kappo cuisine and expand their culinary career in the United States. Candidates with kappo experience are welcome, but those with limited kappo experience may also apply if they have a solid foundation in Japanese cuisine and a strong desire to develop their skills in kappo.

The restaurant will be a relatively large-scale operation, offering an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the growing field of kappo cuisine in the U.S. This position is well suited for someone who wants to grow as a chef while working in a high-level culinary, service, and restaurant operations environment in the heart of New York.

$60,000–$80,000 per year
Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skill level.

Main Responsibilities

• Preparation and cooking of kappo cuisine
• Assisting with and preparing Japanese dishes using seasonal ingredients
• Working closely with the kitchen team
• Ingredient management, quality control, and sanitation management
• Supporting the development of operations for a newly opening restaurant
• Gaining hands-on experience for future skill development and career growth

Requirements

• Experience in kappo, washoku, or Japanese cuisine is preferred
• Candidates with limited experience may also apply
• Must value the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine
• Strong interest in seriously learning kappo cuisine
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
• Must be able to work in New York
• Applicants from Japan are also welcome
