A premier Japanese restaurant in Philadelphia is seeking a highly skilled Executive Chef to lead kitchen operations. The restaurant features expertly prepared sushi and modern izakaya cuisine. The Executive Chef will be responsible for managing the kitchen team, maintaining exceptional quality standards, and driving culinary innovation.
- Oversee all kitchen operations, including sushi and izakaya preparation
- Create and implement innovative menus with a modern Japanese flair
- Manage inventory, food cost, and vendor relations
- Lead and mentor a high-performing kitchen staff
- Enforce all food safety and sanitation regulations, especially raw fish handling
- Collaborate with management and front-of-house teams on restaurant operations
Requirements
- Proven Executive Chef experience in a high-volume Japanese restaurant
- Deep knowledge of sushi techniques and izakaya-style cooking
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Familiarity with local food safety and raw fish handling regulations
- Current ANAB-accredited Food Safety Certification (required)
- English fluency required
