A well-established sushi restaurant in NYC is hiring an experienced Sushi Chef. Applicants with omakase experience and a strong attention to detail are highly preferred. This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive team environment, preparing and serving high-quality sushi with precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare sushi from start to finish including slicing fish, plating, and setup
  • Maintain prep area organization and cleanliness
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene compliance
  • Follow recipes and adjust for special dietary needs or guest requests
  • Report equipment issues and assist team members as needed
  • Participate in training sessions and uphold DOH standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of sushi experience, or 3+ years in omakase setting
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety practices
  • Ability to multi-task and stay focused in a high-paced kitchen
  • Calm and professional demeanor

Salary
Estimated annual income: $62,400–$104,000 (based on $30–$50/hr + tips, depending on experience)

Work Schedule
Full-time or part-time (evening and night shifts)
