A modern Japanese restaurant is set to open in Fall 2025 in the heart of Coral Gables, Miami. Combining contemporary design with refined Japanese cuisine, this new destination aims to set a new standard for high-end dining in South Florida.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Sushi Chef to lead the sushi program. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring precision, creativity, and a deep respect for Japanese culinary tradition.
Position Details
Head Sushi Chef | Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all operations of the sushi section
- Prepare beautifully composed nigiri, rolls, and sashimi
- Lead Omakase service
- Manage sourcing, inventory, and prep
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections
- Train and lead team members
- Continuously improve the guest dining experience
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of sushi experience in upscale or fine-dining environments
- High-level knife skills and aesthetic plating sense
- Strong leadership and communication in English
- Ability to stay organized and composed under pressure
- Working knowledge of hot kitchen operations is a plus
- Omakase service experience is a strong advantage
- Culinary degree or formal Japanese training preferred
- Spanish or other second language a plus
Compensation & Conditions
- Annual salary: $85,000 (negotiable based on experience)
